Infectious Diseases

The Department of Infectious Diseases is a sub-specialty of public health at the Institute of Public Health. This department is actively involved in teaching, training and research activities. Infectious Diseases Hospital, Bilal Gang, Lahore is attached with the Institute of Public Health where the students of different disciplines of public health are attached for the training purpose. The department is involved actively in all collaborative activities of public health interest with other departments and different NGO’s like WHO, UNICEF, etc.

Academic Activities

The objective of the department is to teach and train the postgraduate students (MPH, MHM, MMCH ,M.Phil, MCPS & FCPS (Community Medicine) and the paramedical courses.

Research Work

Infectious Disease Department is involved in different departmental research activities like supervising small scale research projects by the postgraduate student of MPH, MHM, MMCH, M.Phil, MCPS & FCPS (Community Medicine). It also participates in different research activities at national level like evaluations of Polio immunization Program, Dengue Control Program, etc.

Capacity Building

The department is actively conducting different public health activities like seminars, training workshops, etc. in collaboration with other departments. It is also working on revamping plan of Punjab Medical Faculty Courses.


Infectious Disease Department is conducting examinations organized by Punjab Medical Faculty, Lahore Board, University of Health Sciences and College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan.
